“The program includes: carefree dancing and henna painting, Indian bazaar, learning Hindi, medical and sports practices, watching Indian movies and much more. All events are free,” organizers report on the festival’s website indiaday.ru.
This year the holiday is dedicated to ecology and healthy lifestyle. Meditations and yoga master classes will be held in the recreation area. Experienced craftsmen will make mehendi for guests - body painting with henna. And at the Indian bazaar will offer spices, natural cosmetics, jewelry, souvenirs, tea.
At the food court, the guests of the festival will try spicy dishes from different parts of India. About ten varieties of mangoes will be presented on the shelves.
The educational part of the program includes Hindi lessons, master classes in cooking Indian dishes, national dance classes, lectures on Ayurveda. And fashion shows will introduce guests to the peculiarities of national costumes.
“One of the brightest events will be the Ratha-Yatra Chariot Festival, during which a procession led by a wagon filled with flowers and fruits will pass along the main alley of the park - they will be presented to all festival guests,” the organizers promise.
The procession will be accompanied by songs and dances in festive national clothes.
All festival days Russian and Indian performers will perform on the main stage. On the "Day of India" it will also be possible to participate in a chess tournament and a ceremony of a traditional Indian wedding, see a show of drummers and acrobats on stilts.
The festival will be held for the seventh time, it is organized by the Indian cultural and national center "Sita".
The holiday is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India.
