Cuba, whose economy is under influence of economic sanctions by the United States and largely depends on tourism, announced the opening of its borders on July 1 for international tourists.
The tourists will be allowed to visit only small islands - in order to avoid the risk of the spread of coronavirus infection.
Authorities on the island, where 2280 cases of COVID-19 are reported, including 84 fatal, say the epidemic on its territory is under control.
At the same time, it is planned to expose all foreigners entering the country for СOVID-19; doctors will be in every tourist complex and hotel.
As noted by France Presse, the Cuban authorities for a long time did not dare to close the island for tourists. They were closed on March 24.
In 2018, the Cuban tourism contributed $ 3.3 billion to the economy.
According to official figures, in the first quarter of the year, the number of foreign travelers in Cuba fell by 33.2%.
At the first stage of lifting the restrictions, Havana and the neighboring province of Matanzas, where the resort of Varadero is located, will be closed to tourists.
The opening date for Cuban airports for scheduled flights has not yet been determined.
