Creative workshops for children and adults opened at Rosa Khutor

Special workshops for children and adults have opened in the My Russia ethnographic park-museum located in the Rosa Khutor resort. The unique complex united 11 thematic pavilions on the territory of 3.3 hectares, illustrating the history, life and entertainment of different peoples of our country.

“On the site “My Russia” you can see the Moscow Kremlin, and the authentic towers of the Caucasus, and the bright Buddhist temple of Buryatia, and the famous wooden log cabins of Siberia, and the Kuban courtyard, and the elegant palaces of St. Petersburg. An unusual journey through our country and immersion in its cultural and historical heritage takes place in an interactive format, show excursions, game programs for children, master classes are organized, ”the My Russia ethnographic complex said.

Not far from the entrance, guests are greeted by a real forge. Master Sergey Glinka has been working with metal for over 20 years. He admits that once he went into the forge and was struck as a piece of cold metal, becoming plastic and pliable in the hands of a blacksmith turns into beautiful things. In the impromptu gallery of Sergey's works, candlesticks, key holders, forged railings, and even paintings appeared.

“At the master classes in My Russia, everyone can become a real blacksmith, forge a horseshoe for good luck or make a keychain in the form of a funny brownie. As in the old days, we heat the metal with a forge to a temperature above 700 degrees Celsius, use an anvil and a hammer. Of course, a professional blacksmith's tool can weigh five kilograms, but small hammers are used in master classes. Even a child can handle them. The age of the smallest participant in our blacksmith master classes is four years old,” says blacksmith Sergei Glinka.

There is also a candle factory nearby. Here you can understand how candles were made in Ancient Rus'. To do this, the masters used the dipping method, dropping the wick into the melted wax over and over again. The process is not fast, it took up to 2.5 hours to make candles.

“We invite guests to make candles from real beeswax. Paraffin is now used to make most candles. This is a chemical compound, during the combustion process, various harmful substances are released. Candles made from real beeswax are not smoked and, unlike paraffin candles, they release useful esters due to the propolis they contain. Real wax is a rarity. We buy it from beekeepers. If you can collect up to 4 kilograms of honey from one hive frame, then only 100 grams of excess wax is obtained from it, ”explains Dmitry Mustopaev, the creator of the candle factory at Rosa Khutor.

The most delicious master class "My Russia" - painting the royal gingerbread. That is how honey delicacies covered with multi-colored glaze were called in the old days.

“Honey gingerbread is prepared according to old recipes in Podolsk. During the master class, we invite guests to choose the shape of a gingerbread and paint it. There are a lot of forms - there are cockerels, birds, bears, and even the town hall - the symbol of the Rosa Khutor resort. It will turn out not only a tasty gift, but also an unusual souvenir. Such a gingerbread can be stored for up to two months, ”they say in the Tsarsky Gingerbread Museum located in the Russian North pavilion.

Fans of military affairs will be able to turn into real archers. At a special master class, they will be taught how to shoot a bow and hit a target with a spear. Masters will show you how to load and fire a volley from a 14th century cannon. And in "My Russia" you can try pottery from masters from Tatarstan or the art of felting from felt in the "Suzdal" pavilion. Then you should definitely go to the Buryatia pavilion, where they will help restore the inner balance with the help of Tibetan singing bowls.
