On December 18, a new climatic route was opened on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park.

It starts from the observation deck of the park and leads through the meteorological platform to the ornithological observation deck. The route is equipped with stands dedicated to long-term observations of the climate of the national park, the history of the volunteer eco-marathon "It's gone", as well as interactive stands with information about the species diversity of birds in the national park. There are places for feeding birds and signs with recommendations for supporting animals in the winter.

“There are 6 meteorological instruments on the site: a thermometer for measuring air temperature, a barometer for measuring atmospheric pressure, a hygrometer for measuring air humidity, a weather vane for determining wind direction, a snow gauge for measuring the height of snow cover and a cloud catcher for determining the type of cloudiness. Also for young visitors to the national park there is a weather visualizer, with the help of which each child, having studied the readings of the instruments, will be able to adjust the weather of the current day. Benches have been installed for visitors to have a short rest," the national park said on its website.

“The route is very beautiful. Each site is made with a deep meaning. One of the main activities of specially protected areas is environmental education, and the new route on the Krasnoyarskiye Stolby fully copes with this task. Having walked along it, enjoying the views and having received valuable and interesting information, you can no longer return home the same,” said the head of the Roszapovedtsentr, Daria Matsuk, at the opening of the new trail.

In turn, the director of the national park, Vyacheslav Shcherbakov, noted that now it is possible to conduct full-fledged geography lessons for different categories of children here. The route will strengthen the educational potential of the park, he is sure.

“Every year, more than 5,000 schoolchildren take part in environmental education programs of the national park. The new climatic route will serve as an important source of information about the current weather for further recording in the annals of nature, which have been maintained by the scientific department of the environmental institution since 1925, that is, from the beginning of the formation of the protected areas,” the report says.

The new route is also the entrance gate to the renovated Kashtakovskaya trail, which is scheduled to open in 2024.

“The opening of the climate route is another step in a comprehensive plan to create comfortable and safe conditions to reduce the anthropogenic load in the unique conditions that we have within the boundaries of a million-strong metropolis. For tourists who come to our region, this is surprise and delight. After all, staying in a city hotel, you can find yourself in a full-fledged ski resort and in the impenetrable taiga, while taking a walk with comfortable conditions, ”said Olga Vasilenko, head of the tourism agency of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The climate trail was created with the participation of volunteers from the national park, corporate volunteers from Norilsk Nickel's Combine of Goodness, and volunteers from Krasnoyarsk enterprises.
