Camellia blossomed in Sochi

According to the specialists of the Arboretum Park, the camellia usually blooms in March. Scientists attribute this to unstable weather at the resort. The plant could have lost its biological rhythms: this is the third flowering in the last few months.

"Now the main wave of camellia flowering has begun. About 5 out of 30 varieties bloom in our country. These are both simple flowers and terry flowers with different colors. Basically, we have French terry varieties," said the leading researcher of the Sochi National Park Galina Soltani.

It is also unusual that when falling off, the Japanese camellia bud does not crumble into petals, but falls to the ground as a whole inflorescence. The flowering time, if the weather does not worsen, can last until May.
