Every year on December 13th, a special festival named Druk Wangyel Tshechu takes place at the Dochula Mountain pass in honour of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and the Royal Bhutan Army. Dochula is located about an hour's drive from Thimphu, enroute to Punakha.
At Dochula, you will find 108 identical chortens (stupas); the complex serves as a landmark for travelers passing through Dochula. What makes the Druk Wangyel Tshechu unique is that the mask dances performed at this festival are not commonly seen in other festivals in the country.
