The United Kingdom is making efforts to woo its citizens to visit Tanzania and enjoy the East African country’s world acclaimed tourist attractions. Recent statistics by the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) indicate that 77,000 tourists from UK visited Tanzania last year.
“We want more British to visit Tanzania,” British High Commissioner to Tanzania Sarah Cooke was quoted as saying by the Citizen in Arusha. She said the beauty of Tanzania is “unforgettable”.
Tanzania deputy permanent secretary in the ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism said the government is also keen to double visitors from the UK. “Our ambition is double this number next year. We will do this by investing more in conservation,” he said. Tanzania is home to the renowned treeless Serengeti National Park and Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
