The press service of the national park reported that the staff of the "Land of the Leopard" visited India, where they also received skills in working with a neural network to identify animal species.

Land of the Leopard and the National Tiger Authority of the Republic of India signed an agreement on scientific cooperation back in April 2022. Under the auspices of the office, Land of the Leopard scientists have established interaction with colleagues from the Wildlife Institute of India. The main goal of this work was the development of software based on neural networks, which makes it possible to recognize animals by species in camera trap images.

During a visit to India, a delegation from Russia studied the basics of neural networks and the principles of adapting software to the data of the Land of the Leopard photo monitoring. In particular, the National Park researchers, led by world-renowned tiger researchers at the Wildlife Institute of India, got acquainted with the methods for assessing the population indicators of rare cats, studied the features of the tools for identifying tigers and leopards, and also presented their scientific research.

Now Land of the Leopard plans to work out issues of cooperation with Indian colleagues in other areas as well.
