Ancient cities of Russia invite guests for New Year festivities

Traditional Russian festivities and New Year's fairs this year will be held on the central squares of the ancient cities of Yaroslavl, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rybinsk, Rostov, Uglich and Tutaev. This was reported by the Department of Tourism of the Yaroslavl region.

In Yaroslavl, in the capital of the Golden Ring of Russia, on December 31, grand fireworks and concert will take place on the central Soviet Square. Also, the city will host the festival of urban crafts and creative industries "YarKraft". It will be launched on December 26 - 29 in the city center.

In Uglich, on Assumption Square on December 14, lights will be lit on the main Christmas tree. At the traditional New Year's Fair will offer products of local masters and manufacturers: marmalade, chocolate, handmade gingerbreads and not only purchase New Year's gifts, but also attend a master class on their production. And on Uspenskaya Square everyone will be able to drive on the Russian «troika».

On December 14, the first holiday will take place in Rybinsk - The Santa Clauses Feast. This traditional carnival is held in Rybinsk annually. This time over 1,500 Santa Clauses will take part in the carnival procession. The program includes fabulous performances, workshops of frosty affairs, winter fun and competitions, a Christmas market and New Year's treats.

On December 20, in Myshkin, fabulous theatrical performances of "New Year's Fun in the Mouse Kingdom" will begin in the Myshkin Chambers. Guests will be able to attend the Christmas programs of the Mouse Museum and winter gatherings in the museum of the great vodka maker Smirnov. On December 21, a large-scale ball in the style of the 19th century, master classes and a fair will be held at the estate of merchants Chistovy.

In Rostov, winter season events are united by the Winter in Rostov project. Winter festivities in Rostov will last for three months - from December 1 to March 1. Every Saturday, concerts, theatre performances and operas will be held in the Rostov Kremlin. Residents and guests of the city are invited to an unusual "Christmas nativity scene", which is scheduled for January 7.

The city will also host a Christmas Fair in the Rostov Kremlin. Rostov is ready to offer city guests traditional entertainment for the Russian winter: ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing and ice skating. The museum-reserve of the city will host the Winter evenings in Rostov chamber art festival, which will begin in December and end in late February.

In the Breitovsky district of the Yaroslavl region in January, guests will be offered to learn how to build real snow fortresses.

In Pereslavl-Zalessky, a large country resort is ready to offer guests of the region winter fun in the fresh air and dog sledding, as well as a reconstruction of the Russian winter hunting with greyhounds.

A mysterious and fabulous entertainment program for lovers of romance will be held in the village of Tygydym in the Rybinsk district. From December 1 to the end of January, every Saturday and Sunday in Tygydym there will be an “Extraordinary Journey into the World of the Village”.

In addition, several dozens of ice rinks will operate in cities and regions in winter. The main one in the Yaroslavl region will open on December 15 in the central square in Yaroslavl. Further information can be found here.

In Vladimir, the Christmas market will open on December 20. According to the website of the Department of Tourism of the Vladimir Region, on this day on Georgievskaya Street, in addition to traditional souvenirs, guests will be offered meals, tea, delicious meat delicacies and sweets. Guests of the city will enjoy entertaining concert programs and children's animation. 

From December 23 to 29, the Zagorodny Park of Culture and Leisure will host the New Year's theatrical program in ethnic style. You can see the rituals, games and legends of the peoples of the North.

On January 7, the craftswoman Mary Artisan will visit Vladimir. In the park "Friendship" she will prepare for the guests of the festival original Russian games, fun, carols and round dances. A large gala concert with the participation of creative teams will be arranged on the stage.

January 12, Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street - from Theater Square to Cathedral Square will be attended by Santa Clauses. Everyone can join the movement. It’s enough to have any attribute of Santa Claus or the Snow Maiden with you - for example, a New Year’s costume or at least the appropriate hat. Participants who show the best results in speed or run the distance in the most elegant costume will be awarded valuable prizes.

In Yuryev-Polsky on Torgovaya Square on December 26, a Christmas pageant with a Santa Claus and a Snow Maiden, round dances and a magical holiday atmosphere will open the Christmas market.
