The ALROSA Environmental Center and the Directorate of Biological Resources, Special Protected Natural Areas and Natural Parks of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) signed an agreement for 2020, under which ALROSA will allocate 4 million rubles to support the Living Diamonds of Yakutia natural park.

The company said that the money will be used to repair animal enclosures and roads, renew the species composition and purchase food for the animals.

“The reparation  of the road demands a lot of money, so we can’t do without external support. Thanks to ALROSA, we have acquired new enclosures for bears, we are buying the necessary equipment. Park workers love their work, they conduct environmental monitoring, scientific research to restore disturbed natural and historical and cultural complexes,” said the park CEO Sergei Simonov.

The Natural Diamonds of Yakutia Natural Park with an area of over 32 thousand ha was created with the support of ALROSA in 2006 to preserve natural ecosystems.

The park is inhabited by musk oxen, deer, yaks, sika deer, elk, forest bison, Yakut horses, roe deer, bears, peacocks and other animals that are kept there in near natural conditions.

Since 2011, ALROSA has been supporting the park free of charge. During this time, the company allocated the total of 29.3 million rubles for the development of the park.
