Russia has shown a general increase in the number of tourist arrivals - almost 55 million people have traveled in Russia in 2019, which is 11.7% more than a year earlier. Such data were provided at a meeting of the Coordinating Council for Tourism Development last week.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation, Olga Golodets, the number of tourists to Crimea, "which is one of the leaders in the volume and growth rate of tourist flow," shows excellent growth dynamics. For the first time in the entire post-Soviet history in 11 months, the country was visited by more than 7 million people from 159 countries. This is 10 percent more than for the same period in 2018, when 6.8 million people rested in Crimea.
The previous peak in tourist visits was recorded in 2012 - 6.1 million tourists travelled to the peninsula.
Of the total number of holidaymakers who came to Crimea in January-November 2019, 28% arrived by air, 57% traveled across the Crimean bridge, 15% crossed the Russian Federation border at Armyansk, Dzhankoy, Perekop sectors.
The highway "Simferopol - Yevpatoria - Mirny" is planned to be built to solve transport issues. Crimea hopes that a reconstruction project of the Yalta highway worth 103 billion rubles will also be implemented.
In addition, the launch of a railway express train from Simferopol Airport to all tourist destinations is underway.
It is also intended to make major repairs and landscaping of beach areas.
In 2020, 500 million rubles will be additionally allocated for the development of culture and tourism in Crimea.
