Ghana will host this year’s edition of the Africa Digitisation Conference on Tourism and Trade (ADCOTT), according to the local media citing a government official.
The conference, which is being organised by the Chamber of Tourism Industry (CTI), is set for August 24 to 26, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
More than 2,000 participants from various stakeholder groups are expected to discuss public policy issues relating to tourism, trade and internet in Africa.
The country’s deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture Ziblim Barri Iddi said Accra was championing the concept of digitisation as a means of building a knowledge-based economy for development.
He said some public institutions including the ports, lands commission, ministry of tourism and the passport office had moved onto various digital platforms to ease business transactions.
Meanwhile, Iddi said government will for the next four years set aside $100 million to strengthen the tourism enabling environment, develop tourist sites and support tourism enterprises in the West African nation.
