The Russian Railways holding announced on its website that over 200 additional long-distance trains are scheduled for the celebration of National Unity Day. This is 40% more than in the same period last year.
“The days off dedicated to the November holidays fall this year on the period from 4 to 6 November. Additional trains will run on the most popular routes connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg with the largest regional centers, as well as on a number of popular interregional routes,” the company said in a statement.
In particular, additional trains have been assigned from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Pskov, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Volgograd, Penza, Kirov, Belgorod, Yekaterinburg.
From the northern capital, additional trains will go to Pskov, Belgorod, Smolensk, Sortavala, Velikiye Luki, Kazan and other cities.
Local traffic has additional trains on routes popular with tourists. Among them are such directions as Petrozavodsk - Pskov, Nizhny Novgorod - Kazan, Rostov-on-Don - Kislovodsk and Rostov-on-Don - Rosa Khutor, as well as Sortavala - Ruskeala and a number of others.
“The peak departure date will be November 3, and in the opposite direction, the maximum passenger flow is expected on November 6.
With an increased demand for trips during the November holidays, it is possible to include additional wagons in the already assigned trains,” the Russian Railways said.
