The Interfax-tourism portal, citing Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, said that according to preliminary forecasts, the internal tourist flow in the winter period from December 2022 to March 2023 will amount to 18 million people.
According to Chernyshenko, most regions and tourist clusters are ready to receive a large influx of tourists.
He noted that the most popular travel destinations will be large cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, as well as the cities of the Golden Ring.
Among the ski resorts, Krasnaya Polyana, Arkhyz, Dombai and Elbrus region, as well as Khibiny, Belaya Mountain, Mountain Air and Sheregesh are still in demand. Almost 100% load is predicted for the New Year holidays.
In turn, presidential aide Igor Levitin stressed that it is necessary to monitor the cost of flights and hotel accommodation during times of increased demand.
“It is important for us to understand and monitor how the pricing policy will behave and prevent unreasonable price increases in order to maintain the availability and comfort of travel for Russians,” said Levitin.
