According to the Orenburg Reserve, the new visitor center in the Cis-Ural steppe will introduce this natural area and, in particular, the Przhevalsky Horse Reintroduction Center.
“According to the developed concept, we are expecting the Horse House with an area of almost 140 square meters. We plan to open a visitor center in the fall of 2022," says the official website.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Nature Revival Charitable Foundation, which has helped the reserve on numerous occasions.
The Orenburg State Nature Reserve was established in 1989. It includes such areas as "Talovskaya steppe", "Burtinskaya steppe", "Aytuarskaya steppe", "Ashchisaiskaya steppe", "Preduralskaya steppe". Steppes occupy more than 90% of the total area of the reserve. This area has a high biological diversity. Many plants are classified as rare and endangered species: 23 species are listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation.
A number of animals of the reserve are included in the Red Books of the IUCN, Russia and the Orenburg region - these are mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects. Of the globally rare, endangered species of animals in Europe, included in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), two species of mammals are registered on the territory of the reserve - the Przewalski's horse and saiga, as well as nine species of birds and five species of insects.
Since 2015, a project has been launched here to create a semi-free population of the Przewalski horse in Russia, and a center for the reintroduction of this animal has been opened.
