Another specially protected natural area of federal significance will appear in Russia - the Tula Zaseki National Park. The decree on its creation was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reported on its website.
“The new national park will be located on the territories of the municipalities Shchekinskiy district, the city of Efremov and the city of Tula. Its total area will be almost six thousand hectares. The creation of the park will help to preserve the natural and historical complex "Tula Zaseki" - one of the few surviving fragments of broad-leaved forests of the Northern Hemisphere," the ministry said.
Rare species of flora and fauna live in these parts, many of which are listed in the Red Books of Russia and the Tula region, the report says.
More than 50 archeological monuments and interesting geological objects have been preserved on the territory of the projected park and near it, which can be included in excursion, tourist and educational programs. Among them are Krasnaya Gora, the Ishutinskaya Gora cliff, the Galochnik cliff, the Stone Road, a group of blocks of quartz sandstone “Kon-Stone”.
Work on the creation of the national park is carried out within the framework of the federal project "Preservation of biological diversity and development of ecological tourism", which is part of the national project "Ecology".
