The Interfax-tourism portal, citing the press secretary of the Curonian Spit National Park, Olga Bolshakova, said that one should not be in the specially protected and reserved areas of the spit. At the same time, mushroom picking is allowed in recreational and economic zones. Therefore, a special map was developed for tourists that shows these areas. For violation of the rules, visitors will face an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 3 to 4 thousand rubles.
The severity of the punishment is justified by the fact that the visitor not only commits an offense, but also intervenes in the life of wild animals, which, as a rule, are on their beds during the day. Frightened, the animals can jump out onto the road. In addition, the massive collection of mushrooms on the Curonian Spit deprives its wild inhabitants of part of the food supply.
The national park reminded that the spit, in principle, is not the place where mushrooms grow in clean environmental conditions. According to Bolshakova, they can, “figuratively speaking, be mowed obliquely.”
