A helicopter to track quarantine violators in French forests

Fans of walks and outdoor recreation in the French Vosges will now be tracked by a helicopter. According to the French news agency France 3, the gendarmerie of the Xonrupt-Longemer commune of the Grand Est region mobilized its forces to control the Vosges territory to "catch" pedestrians or travelers who want to walk in nature and thus violate the quarantine rules.

The local gendarmerie was given a helicopter from the base of Colmar in the Haut-Rhin to fly over the mountain range and identify criminals.

“The helicopter allows us to quickly cover large areas over long distances. On Saturday, we detained a mountain biker in Lac Blanc. He left Colmar! ”, said representatives of the security forces.

France is the country with the fifth largest number of people infected with a new coronavirus. Due to the rapid spread of the disease the country's authorities decided to impose full quarantine, forcing their citizens to stay at home. People are allowed to leave their home only in extreme cases - to go to the store for vital goods, for a short walk with children or dogs or for work.

To date the country has recorded more than 112 thousand cases of Covid-19 infection and more than 10 thousand deaths.
