Falconry Center "Kamchatka" is the first international center for the reintroduction and conservation of rare species of birds of prey. In the near future, 84 premium elite falcons will be transported there. And the first generation of chicks bred in the center is expected already this spring.
This project is being implemented under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (KRDV). The co-investors are JSC Zapsibgazprom (ZSGP) and the investment platform of the Roscongress Foundation - the RK-Investments Fund.
“The project has brought together the best international experience, its implementation was carried out in close cooperation, including with experts from Arab countries. The revival of falconry traditions in Russia will contribute to the development of multilateral cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa,” said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko during a meeting on the conservation and restoration of rare breeds of birds in the Russian Federation.
Dmitry Kobylkin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, following the meeting, told reporters that since the 1980s, poachers have managed to take a huge number of gyrfalcons out of Russia, which has led to a sharp decline in their population. In this regard, one of the goals of the center will be to neutralise poaching.
He noted that the "Kamchatka" Center will continue the revival of the falcon population and will carry out detailed scientific work.
“This project will be a real breakthrough for the development of ecotourism and will certainly give impetus to the region. First of all, this initiative will contribute to the development of the tourism and transport infrastructure of the Russian regions," said Dmitry Kobylkin.
In turn, the governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, said that the development of ecological tourism in the region is associated with the successful implementation of "green" projects.
Among them are the "School of Defenders of Nature", the project to create a tourist and recreational cluster "Reserved Kamchatka: the land of people, volcanoes and salmon" in the south of the peninsula, the educational and scientific center of green technologies "Oikumena" and the locomotive project for the development of the tourist and recreational cluster the «Three Volcanoes» Park.
“Definitely, the “green strategy” is more relevant than ever and is a key one for our region,” Vladimir Solodov said.
