The press service of the National Park "Land of the Leopard" reported that the planting of Red Book ginseng was carried out in the Ussuriysky Reserve for the first time. A total of 35 roots were planted.
Previously, the customs seized these plants from poachers who got them in another part of the region. The smuggler tried to take the roots out of Russia. The cost of smuggling ginseng on the black market is estimated at several million rubles.
Rosprirodnadzor specialists assessed the condition of the seized roots, and experts from the Red Book Research Center selected viable specimens. It was decided to plant ginseng in the most suitable and protected from poaching place - the Ussuriysky Reserve. The site was matched with the color of the biological features of the rare plant.
