27 regions of the country completed the annual plan for sowing seeds of forest crops

The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported on the results of the spring silvicultural season in the regions. Since the beginning of the year, 13 regions of Russia have completed all the planned work on artificial reforestation, and 27 regions have 100% implemented the annual plan for sowing forest crops.

Among the regions that have successfully completed the seasonal plan for artificial reforestation are the Bryansk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Tambov, Tver, Astrakhan, Rostov, Saratov, Omsk regions, the Stavropol Territory, the Republic of Ingushetia, Tatarstan and Karachay-Cherkessia.

The department noted that, nevertheless, work on compensatory reforestation was completed only by 40%. Most of the overdue obligations for this type of reforestation today fall on the Far Eastern, Siberian, Urals and Northwestern Federal Districts.

"Rosleskhoz noted the unsatisfactory work of regional authorities in terms of holding legal entities liable for compensatory reforestation, but did not do so. Thus, in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) companies restored only 4.9 thousand hectares out of 19.1 thousand hectares, in Khanty - Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra - 3.5 thousand hectares out of 23.3 thousand hectares, and in the Sakhalin region - 1.3 thousand hectares out of 3.2 thousand hectares.

Roslesozashchita specialists also made a number of comments to the regions where there was a discrepancy between the actual and planned areas intended for reforestation. In addition, in four subjects of Russia in these areas there is a low survival rate and death of young forest plants.

"Regional forest departments have been instructed to increase control over ongoing compensatory reforestation activities, carry out agro-care before the end of summer and completely close overdue obligations for claims and lawsuits with legal entities in terms of compensatory reforestation," the Ministry of Natural Resources said.
