The authorities of Monchegorsk plan to introduce a tourist tax from January 1, 2025. The issue was brought up for discussion by the Council of Deputies of the city, which is located beyond the Arctic Circle and which is called the pearl of the Kola Peninsula.
Lakes Imandra and Lumbolka, as well as Monchegorsk, located on their shores, are among the TOP 5 destinations for travel and tourism in the Murmansk region.
According to the draft, the authorities of Monchegorsk plan to levy a tourist tax of 1%, but not less than 100 rubles per day. The tourist tax will replace the resort fee. The money will be charged from the owners of the hotel, and travelers will be obliged to pay only for the services of the hotel. It is planned that in 2026 the tax rate will increase to 2%, in 2027 – to 3%, in 2028 – to 4%, in 2029 – to 5%.
