The Samoilov family from the Altai Territory found the jaw of a woolly rhinoceros, fragments of a tusk and a pelvic joint of a mammoth on the banks of the Yana River. The couple discovered the paleontological find 20 kilometers from the abandoned village of Severny Ust-Yansky ulus, the press service of the government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reported.

Vitaly Samoilov, a tourist from the Altai Territory, together with his wife, went rafting about 600 kilometers along the Yana River in 25 days to visit the village of his childhood. He made a film about his journey and became a participant in the Far East – Land of Adventures competition.

It was initiated by Deputy Prime Minister - Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev in fulfillment of Vladimir Putin's instructions on the development of domestic tourism.

The first season of the competition started in September 2022 at the site of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum. The essence of the competition is to travel to one or more regions of the Far East and tell about it in a short film (up to 8 minutes). It is possible to film your journey both on a professional camera and on a mobile phone. Previous works are also accepted: the trip must be completed no earlier than September 1, 2022 and no later than December 30, 2024.

The winners and prize-winners in the nominations will receive impressive cash prizes. Grand Prix (best video trip) – 3 million rubles, winners in the categories "walking, water, winter" - 1 million rubles, second places – 300,000 rubles, third places – 100,000 rubles. A separate prize of 1 million rubles has also been introduced for the best trip in Chukotka.
