New residents have arrived at the Ingilor Nature Park on Yamal - four yaks.

Three females and one male were purchased from a nursery in the Moscow region. They were placed at the Nyarovey-Hadata cordon. This was announced by the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) on its website.

"Yaks are farm animals, so there are no plans to release them into the wild. The key task is to adapt animals to the conditions of the Arctic and get offspring," the message says.

This is not the first importation of yaks into the nature park. In 2008, a group of these animals was already delivered to Ingilor, and now two males live there.

"Yakov was delivered to Ingilor by truck, accompanied by veterinarians. The animals will be quarantined for a month, after which they will be released into an aviary with other animals. At first, they will be monitored and the necessary feeding will be organized," the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District reported.

According to the acting head of the Wildlife Protection Department of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Vitaly

Borisyuk, yaks tolerate the cold perfectly, as they live mainly in mountainous areas. The delivery of a new batch should give a renewed impetus to the adaptation of animals in the conditions of the North.

"This will increase the diversity of wildlife in the natural park and the tourist attractiveness of Ingilor," Borisyuk's words are quoted in the message.

The Ingilor Nature Park is one of the most visited in Yamal. Its area is more than 900 thousand hectares. In addition to the yaks, more than 120 musk oxen live in its enclosures - the Yamal kennel is considered the largest in the world. More than 80 musk oxen have been released into the wild in five years, and they have successfully adapted. According to experts, more than 200 musk oxen live outside the enclosures in Yamal. Also last year, representatives of the Pleistocene Park eco-project from Yakutia delivered 12 bison to Ingilor. The animals for the district were purchased in Denmark. In exchange, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District handed over 14 musk ox calves to its Yakut colleagues.
