Applications for participation in volunteer missions in the Ingilor Nature Park on Yamal are open. Activists are waiting for three trips to the protected areas, this year two routes have been organized for them. This was announced by the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) on its website.
"In June, for the first time, they will be able to go to the Poluisky Nature Reserve, where moose, wolverine, sable and animals from the Red Book of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District live. In July and August, volunteers are invited to a traditional trip to the Yamal musk ox nursery," the message says.
The organizers of the missions are the Arctic Volunteerism Center and the Directorate of Specially Protected Natural Areas of Regional Significance of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
The upcoming volunteer season will bring together more than 20 participants from different cities of Russia and CIS countries. At the request of the volunteers of previous years, this time the duration of the missions was increased.
"Previously, activists spent about a week at the cordon, now it's ten days, including the road from Salekhard and back. Volunteers will help park employees in the reconstruction of enclosures where musk oxen are kept, and in the reserve they will join the construction of an ecotrope," the portal quotes Olga Podkovyrkina, director of the Arctic Volunteerism Center.
Anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 can take part in the missions. You can find out the dates of each trip and submit an application on the website up to and including April 30.
"The organizers will contact the applicants and conduct an online interview. Travel from Moscow and Tyumen, and for Yamal residents – from the place of residence to the natural park, accommodation and meals are at the expense of the host party. The organizers will publish the results of the selection at the end of May," the message says.
The first such volunteer missions took place in 2022. Last year, 162 applications from 30 cities in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan were received from those wishing to participate in the volunteer mission.
The Ingilor Nature Park is located in the Polar Urals, covering an area of almost 922 thousand hectares, which is comparable to the size of Cyprus. The Yamal musk ox nursery is recognized as the largest in the world - more than two hundred individuals live there.
Participants discussed the boundary between nature and ecotourism, whether mass visits to unique areas can remain safe, the responsibilities of investors, and how to prepare tourists for visiting specially protected natural areas.
The head of state expressed confidence that the Forum will be held at a high level, and that its results will contribute to the development of tourism in Russia and the expansion of humanitarian and business ties.
