In the summer of 2023, as part of the partnership between the Roszapovedcenter of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and the Higher School of Economics, student expeditions are planned to two specially protected natural areas of federal significance.

“Volunteer students from different regions of our country within the framework of the Rediscovering Russia project will be able to take part in the research activities of two national parks located in the Northwestern Federal District,” the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources said on its website.

So, one of the shifts will be held from June 4 to June 16 in the Kenozersky National Park (Arkhangelsk Region).

Volunteers will shoot and edit a video about the role, tasks, opportunities and types of reserved volunteering in the Kenozero National Park. These videos will become part of the general online training course "Reserved Volunteering", which will be available on the platform of the Association of Volunteer Centers Dobro.ru.

“As a reward, participants will visit the most popular tourist eco-routes of the national park, get acquainted with its exposition and exhibition activities, as well as attend master classes in folk crafts and crafts of Kenozero,” the Ministry of Natural Resources said.

You can apply to participate in this project until May 1.

Another expedition for students will take place in the Paanajärvi National Park (Karelia) on June 25-28.

Its participants will have to create several databases of the national park - visitors, downloads of accommodation facilities, flora and fauna, cultural heritage.

Volunteers will also develop an audio guide for two tourist routes of the PAs and help researchers collect metric information about new habitats of a blooming orchid called “Venus slipper” and make a geobotanical description of already known habitats of this species.

In addition, volunteers will help the national park shoot and mount photo and video materials for use in social networks of protected areas and environmental education events.

Applications for participation in this expedition are accepted until May 14.
