Tunisia, which has closed its borders since the end of March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has accepted the first commercial flights from abroad, mainly from Europe.
Nine more flights, mainly from France and Italy, are scheduled for Saturday, according to local media.
Only travelers from more than four dozen countries that are considered safe and included in the so-called green list, including Germany, China and Italy, are allowed to arrive in Tunisia without any conditions.
Arrivals from 60 countries on the orange list, including France, Spain and India, must submit a certificate that they are not carriers of a coronavirus infection less than 72 hours before departure.
From countries not included in both lists, including Russia, only Tunisian citizens are allowed to arrive. At the same time, they must pass the COVID-19 test and undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine at the hotel at their own expense.
In Tunisia, only 1,164 cases of coronavirus have been registered, including 50 deaths. Recently, only a few new cases of infection have been registered in the country every day.
