The comprehensive development of tourism infrastructure on Sarpinsky Island in the Volgograd region was discussed at the Tourism.RF corporation at a working meeting with the government delegation of the region.
Sarpinsky is the largest island of the Volga and the largest river island in the European part of Russia. The island has about 25 lakes and is a key bird area.
According to Tourism.RF, Sarpinsky has high potential for tourism development.
“The government of the Volgograd region has developed a preliminary concept for the development of the island; its integration into the Volgograd Hero City Development Program is currently being considered,” says a message on the corporation’s website.
As part of the agreement between the regional government and the investor JSC Leader, it is planned to develop a master plan for the island’s territory. Tourism.RF will provide expert support in this regard.
“After the master plan appears, the composition of tourist and supporting infrastructure facilities necessary for the development of the island will be determined, optimal technical and economic indicators will be formed, key points of attraction for tourists and city residents will be identified, a unified architectural code and a set of measures will be created for the sustainable development of the territory,” - the corporation reported.
