Despite inflation, the energy crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, tourism in Spain is booming.

In the first week of December, 44.500 flights arrived in the country from abroad, which is 20% more than in the pre-pandemic 2019. The Spanish railway company RENFE has expanded its services for tourists, providing an additional 1.5 million places to travel around the country.

If we compare the number of hotel bookings in December 2019 with today's figure, there is an increase of 26% in Barcelona, 22% in Valencia, 18% in Seville and 5% in Madrid.

These trends confirm the tourist boom that Spain experienced this summer, when 7.2 million tourists arrived in the country, mainly from France, Great Britain and Italy.

However, due to inflation and the energy crisis, prices in the hotel sector increased by an average of 7%. A taxi ride has gone up by 1.6%. Flying by plane is also more expensive. According to the Eurocontrol organization, air ticket prices in Spain have increased by 35% over the year. Hotel accommodation has risen in price by an average of 27% compared to 2021, and lunch in a restaurant - by 6%.
