The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO) has launched a campaign to collect applications for participation in summer volunteer expeditions in the region. Three ecological trips to the remote corners of the district are planned for the next season.

“As a result of the application campaign, 55 activists will be selected. Three volunteer teams will be formed, which in the summer season will go to the Marre-Sale polar station on the coast of the Kara Sea, to the settled village of Polyarny in the Polar Urals, as well as to the village of Cape Kamenny, located on the shores of the Ob Bay, ”the YNAO government portal reported.

Men and women from 20 to 45 years old, ready for physical labor, will be able to take part in the expeditions. Responses are accepted both from residents of Russia and representatives of other countries.

Volunteers will spend about two weeks on each trip. The main task is to clear the territories from clutter.

As noted in the message, the initiator of all expeditions is the public eco-sociological organization "Green Arctic". It was created to attract volunteers to clean up the Arctic territories of the YNAO from anthropogenic pollution. For 10 years, volunteers have cleared more than 500 hectares of land, removed about 2,400 tons of metal and more than 220 cubic meters of various kinds of waste.
