Under the control of Rosprirodnadzor inspectors, three common eagle owls listed in the Red Book were released near the Chistoye swamp in the Slavsky district of the Kaliningrad region.

The distance between the release points was about four kilometers, so that the birds did not have competition. In addition, this solution makes it possible to provide a sufficient amount of food base for their comfortable substantiation in nature.

The released birds were born in April and May 2022 at the Falconry Club. Now they are healthy, eat live food and are able to adapt in the wild. Ornithologists will be able to track the movement of eagle owls, as they were ringed.

In just four years, 10 eagle owls were released into the natural environment in the Kaliningrad region, grown in the Club of Falconers in artificially created conditions.

On the territory of pre-revolutionary Russia and in the USSR, the eagle owl was considered one of the harmful raptors and until the mid-60s was subject to planned extermination, especially in hunting farms and reserves.
