Russian Railways Holding continues work on updating the rolling stock. During 2024, the company plans to receive 550 new wagons from the manufacturer for long-distance trains (single-deck and double-deck).
"The popular tourist train "Pearl of the Caucasus" will also be updated. The technical characteristics of the wagons will improve, their appearance will change both inside and outside. The exterior design will tell you about the picturesque locations through which the train route passes, and the interior design will allow passengers to learn more about the culture, nature and customs of the Caucasus," the message on the Russian Railways website says.
In addition, in the year of the 50th anniversary of the start of construction of the Baikal-Amur mainline, new wagons will receive trains running in connection with the cities of BAMA on the routes Tynda – Blagoveshchensk, Irkutsk – Severobaikalsk and the Khabarovsk–Komsomolsk-on-Amur train.
New single-deck wagons are planned to be included in the compositions of the Volga branded train.
"The fleet of double-decker wagons is also being updated. They will be part of the branded train No. 25/26 "Smena – A. Betancourt" with the St. Petersburg - Moscow connection.
The wagons are equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable trip, in particular, air conditioners, air disinfection systems, toilets. Sockets for charging mobile devices, USB ports, etc. are also provided," the company said.
