The State Duma of the Russian Federation approves the law on environmental information in the first reading

The State Duma of the Russian Federation approved in the first reading the draft law «On Amendments to the Federal Law» On Environmental Protection» and certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation».

Amendments to the Federal Law “On Environmental Protection” will make information on the state of the environment publicly available.

Now, government agencies will have to upload relevant information on the state of the environment on their websites and provide it upon request.

This information will also need to be updated regularly.

At the same time, adjustments are made to the Law "On State Secrets" and the Federal Law "On Commercial Secrets" in order to harmonise the terminology in line with the bill.
