The Russian Geographical Society determined the winners of the photo contest «The Most Beautiful Country»

Works for the photo contest were accepted in ten main categories: "Landscape", "Wild Animals", "Birds", "Russia from a bird's eye view", "Art of the wild nature (art photo)", "Russia in faces", "Macroworld", "Underwater World", "Live Archive" and "Magic of the Elements". Young authors (under the age of 16) could send their pictures in four categories: "Landscape", "Animal World", "World from a bird's eye view" and "Natural Phenomena".

“In 2022, the VIII Most Beautiful Country Photo Contest received a total of 46,893 photos from 5,934 authors. The nomination "Landscape" was the most popular (23,805 works were submitted)," the Russian Geographical Society said in a press release.

Three special prizes have also been established: "Behind the Scenes" - a prize for the best short video that tells the story of the creation of a particular photograph, "People's Choice Award" - its owner was chosen on the Internet by open voting and "Reserved Russia" - a prize from the partner of the competition, VTB Bank , will be awarded to the author of the best shot taken in specially protected natural areas.

The annual photo contest "The Most Beautiful Country" is dedicated to the preservation of the wild nature of Russia and the education of respect for the environment. It first took place in 2015. Over the seven years of the competition's existence, more than 500,000 works have been uploaded to the project website, the Russian Geographical Society reported.
