Rosa Khutor mountain resort and the Chinese ski resort Thaiwoo, located in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document provides for effective interaction to increase the awareness of resorts, popularize mountain tourism in general, outdoor activities, sports, and a healthy lifestyle. The joint activity of resorts in this direction will serve the purpose of increasing the tourist flow between Russia and China and further developing friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries.
In accordance with the terms of the memorandum, the administrations of the Russian and Chinese mountain resorts will use all available mechanisms to implement joint projects in the field of tourism and cultural and recreational activities, holding conferences, seminars and other events. At the same time, it is planned to provide mutual information, educational, methodological and advisory support. An important point of such activities is the exchange of statistical, reference materials and other data. This will help the resorts to better understand the features of skiing, mountaineering, sports tourism in neighboring countries, which in the future will increase the recognition of Rosa Khutor among Chinese outdoor enthusiasts, and the Taivu resort among Russians. Representatives of the parties hope that, having studied the preferences and requests of potential tourists, they will be able to develop a strategy to attract tourists to partner resorts.
Mr. Jacky Cheng,President Assistant & International Business Director, said: “We hope that our cooperation with Rosa Khutor, the best mountain resort in Russia, will become one of the stages in the global promotion of China's unique tourist region among its population. Tourists can go skiing in winter, visit historical sites in spring, hike in picturesque meadows in summer, and take a bath in the nearby hot springs in autumn. Popularization of our resorts will be facilitated by the development and implementation of joint discount programs, the effect of which will apply both to the guests of Thaiwoo and to those who come to rest at Rosa Khutor. For example, as part of one of these promotions, tourists who purchase a weekly ski pass at one of the resorts are entitled to a free weekly ski pass at a partner resort, provided that they stay in a hotel located in this resort or in one of the hotels recommended by its partner administration."
Sergey Khvorostyany, Deputy Director General for International Relations and Tourism of the Rosa Khutor Mountain Resort, noted: “We believe that the signing of the memorandum of cooperation is a concrete step not only in restoring the tourist flow between Russia and China to the level it was before the pandemic, but creates strategic prospects for its development. It is especially important that we are talking about both an increase in the number of tourists who are lovers of mountain recreation, and the creation of a separate direction of business tourism - when resort specialists will visit each other in order to improve their professional level, exchange best practices for operating and developing the infrastructure of resorts, and ensuring the safety of tourists , to improve the level of customer service, the skills of ski instructors and mountain guides. By signing the memorandum, we launched our cooperation and will open new destinations in the tourist markets of China and Russia.”
