The rhododendron flowering season begins in Primorye

The flowering period of rhododendron in Primorye is very short - from about mid-April to mid-May. The Tourist Information Center of Primorsky Krai (Visit Primorye) has prepared for the guests of the region a selection of events and excursions where you can admire this phenomenon.

"As soon as the snow comes off and the earth wakes up from hibernation, it is immediately covered with a carpet of primroses, followed by a blue-pink cloud blooming on our hills rhododendron – a miracle of Far Eastern nature. This is the time when you need to put aside all your worries and hit the road to see the rhododendron bloom with your own eyes. In terms of beauty, it is in no way inferior to the cherry blossom in Japan," the Visit Primorye portal notes.

In the Primorsky Territory, eight species of rhododendron grow in a natural environment, and in the suburbs of Vladivostok there is one in need of protection. However, the name "rhododendron" has not caught on in the region – many continue to mistakenly call it a vermilion, whereas these are different plants.

The Visit Primorye collection has a variety of travel options for rhododendron flowering sites. During these tours, guests will be able to visit the rock complex "Park of Dragons", the cascade of Benevsky Waterfalls, the arboretum in the Ussuri taiga, the Japanese garden of Enisi in Nakhodka, Cape Passeka and the Cave of Wish Fulfillment, the beautiful coves of the Marine Reserve on the Gamova Peninsula, the Dardanelles gorges and the Arboretum.
