The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation expects that the number of tourist trips around the country in winter will exceed 30 million
Such forecasts were announced by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov in Murmansk at a conference call with the regions to prepare for the winter tourist season 2023-2024.
"The demand for travel around the country is growing. At the end of 9 months, the dynamics exceeded all the indicators of last year and our initial forecasts. We now have a plus of 16% in the growth of tourist trips. In the winter season, we forecast 30 million trips – an increase of 7%," Reshetnikov's words are quoted in a message on the ministry's website.
Due to the growth of domestic tourism, the issues of hotel infrastructure development are also in focus. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, 60 million people stayed in hotels in the first nine months of this year, which is 18% higher than the same period last year. At the same time, business is investing more actively in hotel projects, which is largely facilitated by the programs of the national project "Tourism and the hospitality industry", according to the department.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, in the coming winter season, the largest increase in the number of tourist trips will be shown by the northern regions – Karelia, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, as well as the Kaliningrad region and the Urals.
