Lake Galichskoye in the Kostroma region began to be restored under the national project "Ecology". For its clearing, Rosvodresursy sent the region about 50 million rubles this year. This was reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia on its website.
“Now the facility is preparing a site for future events, the main work will begin after the end of spawning. The final is scheduled for 2024.
Lake Galichskoye is the largest in the Kostroma region. It adjoins the borders of the city of Galich, the famous Rybnaya settlement of the Volga region. This reservoir is a natural spawning ground for the entire basin of the Gorky reservoir. The lake is a popular holiday destination all year round - in summer they organize swimming, boating and fishing competitions, and in winter they lay routes for skiers, prepare ice holes for Epiphany. Tourist routes pass along the water area.
“The popularity of the lake, industrial and residential development of the shores have a negative impact on its ecological state. The reservoir is intensively swamped. In addition, it is littered with garbage, during rains and snowmelt, significant volumes of household waste enter the water, which affect the formation of a thick layer of silt,” the Ministry of Natural Resources noted.
According to the agency, Galichskoye Lake is planned to be cleared in recreation areas: it is necessary to remove excess aquatic vegetation and free the bed from accumulated bottom sediments.
