The international environmental festival of arts "KronFest" will be held in Kronstadt from 25 to 28 August.
Portal "Interfax-tourism" reported that the festival will feature art objects by more than 20 artists from St. Petersburg and other regions of the country. The installations will be united by the theme of ecology, and some of them will be made from recycled materials. Thus, the organizers of the festival want to draw the attention of tourists to environmental issues.
At various venues, guests of the event will have master classes and interactive activities. For example, at the fort "Paul I" there will be a plein air for artists. In addition, blacksmiths, potters and weavers will teach folk crafts to visitors. Master classes were prepared by the Russian Museum of Ethnography, the Center for Museum Pedagogy and the environmental movement "Friends of the Environment".
Public talks and lectures on the connection between folk culture and ecology, as well as separate waste collection, will take place on the sidelines of the festival.
On the final day of the festival, there will be a bike ride from east to west of Kotlin Island. At present, it is impossible to reach Kronstadt in a safe way either on foot or by bicycle. Therefore, those who want to get help in delivering their bike to Kotlin will be able to register on social networks.
The bike parade will end at Fort "Reef", where then a big swim will take place on fuel-free types of water transport, including canoes, kayaks, stand-up surfboards. There will also be a "Big Splash" event.
Then guests will be offered to clean up the territory of Kronstadt as part of the "Clean Games" competition, which requires pre-registration.
"KronFest" is a significant cultural event. His program is always varied and exciting. It is updated every year, but the central event traditionally remains an exhibition of art objects created by artists from Russia and foreign countries.
2022 in Russia has been declared the year of folk art and the intangible cultural heritage of peoples, which is why the subject of the project will be closely intertwined with history and traditional ethnic cultures. Also, the upcoming festival will be the central event of the celebration of the Baltic Sea Day.
