The International Fair of Birdwatching Tourism (Feria Internacional de Turismo Ornitológico, FITO), which was held in Extremadura, Spain, successfully concluded.
The event was attended by exhibitors and visitors from all over the world, including bird watchers, bird and nature photographers. It was aimed at the bird watching segment of the European market.
One of the main participants of the event was Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is one of the five best countries in the world for bird watching.
“The geographical location, two coasts, the mountain system, microclimates and sites rich in natural beauty, as well as numerous ecosystems provide ideal natural conditions for a wide variety of birds - more than 900 species, grouped into 89 different families, of which 220 are migratory species”, said Rafael Soto, manager of the National Project for Bird Watching Routes, Tourism Institute of Costa Rica (ICT).
Spain is the fourth most important European tourism market for Costa Rica.
