The Dominican Republic, whose economy is largely dependent on tourism, has restored tourist flows by 80% relative to the level of 2019, the national Ministry of Tourism reported.

In June of this year, 468,367 tourists visited the Caribbean country, which is 80% of the number of travelers in June 2019, in the period preceding the pandemic.

Known for its beaches, the Dominican Republic was visited by 6.5 million tourists in 2019, whose income amounted to more than 7 billion US dollars.
The tourism industry, which employs 7.5% of the country's residents, accounts for 8.4% of the national GDP.

In 2020, tourism in the Dominican Republic collapsed by more than 60% due to the pandemic.
