The Federal Passenger Company (the "daughter" company of JSC "Russian Railways") plans to receive 21 SV cars with a new interior from JSC "VRM" by the end of the year. On November 14, within the framework of the international forum and exhibition "Transport of Russia" in Moscow, Russian Railways Holding presented a full-size mock-up of a modernized wagon. The company announced this on its website.
"When developing the new concept of SV, it was decided to keep the traditional horizontal arrangement of sleeping places opposite each other, to abandon the expansion of shelves, from the sink in the compartment and from the door, opening which, you can combine two adjacent compartments into a single space. The length of the sleeping places has been increased by 16 cm – up to 2 m, the shelf is transformed into a full-fledged sleeping place with a comfortable mattress," the Russian Railways noted.
At the same time, there will be more space for storing hand luggage due to roomy closed luggage shelves above the sleeping places, a special niche for transporting sports equipment (skis, snowboards) and lockers for outerwear instead of standard hooks.
"Each compartment has individual energy-saving lamps, flat-screen monitors that can be controlled remotely, 220 V sockets and USB connectors, as well as conductor call buttons and individual safes. The interior is decorated in warm colors. The interior decoration uses high-quality materials of domestic production. The corridor of the car is equipped with electronic displays, purifiers for drinking water and special containers for separate garbage collection," the message says.
Service compartments are planned to be equipped with safes for storing personal belongings, thermopots and capsule coffee machines.
To carry out major repairs with the replacement of the interior, it is planned to use the cars of the existing fleet.
The updated cars will run as part of a number of branded trains connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg with the regions (for example, No. 19/20 "Quiet Don" Rostov-on-Don - Moscow, No. 11/12 "Premium" Anapa – Moscow, No. 41/42 "Mordovia" Saransk – Moscow), as well as in the Far East.
Within the framework of the exhibition "Transport of Russia" it is planned to collect feedback from potential passengers in order to make a decision on the possible replication of this concept on the railway network.
