The document, among other things, provides for an increase in the number of sea and river cruises in Russia, increasing their accessibility and attractiveness to citizens. It is planned to develop infrastructure for such tourism and improve measures of state support for enterprises involved in its creation.
The concept is designed for the period until 2024, it was approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the Russian government said.
“We also plan to expand the route network of Russian cruises, including in the Arctic, Siberia and the Far East, create new excursion programs with visits to specially protected natural areas, develop cruise destinations that will be of interest not only to adults, but also to children,” said the Cabinet of Ministers.
In addition, it is planned to improve educational programs in the field of the cruise industry for students of colleges and universities, to create platforms for their practical training on the basis of leading cruise companies.
The concept was prepared as part of the Tourism Development Strategy in the Russian Federation until 2035. The action plan will be developed by Rostourism and submitted to the government by July 1.
