Projects put into operation from 2017 to 2022 will be considered at the competition as part of a joint special project of the Federal Tourism Agency and the all-Russian ARCHIWOOD award.
Applications can be submitted until August 21st.
Objects submitted for the competition will be considered in two nominations "Best Wooden Hotel" and "Best Prefabricated Wooden Hotel".
“The short list of the best projects will be formed at the end of August. After that, two winners will be selected in each of the nominations: according to the high jury and as a result of popular vote. The results will be solemnly announced in September 2022,” Rostourism said on its website.
This year, the founders of the special nominations - the head of the department Zarina Doguzova and the organizer of the ARCHIWOOD award Alexander Lvovsky - expanded the jury. Traditionally, it includes eminent architects working with wood, but, as noted in the Federal Tourism Agency, for the first time a well-known artist, sculptor Dashi Namdakov, “a master of transforming ethnic traditions and motifs into works of modern art and architecture,” will join them.
“Today in Russia there is a tremendous interest in domestic tourism. Our vast territory and picturesque natural locations have always been conducive to this. Now, first of all, we need to make up for the lack of modern, high-quality hotels for a comfortable stay,” said Doguzova, whose words are quoted on the website of the Federal Tourism Agency.
A separate head of department noted the nomination in the field of modular hotel construction.
“Thanks to prefabricated, lightweight structures and new technologies, the hotel can be built in a short time. At the same time, this method allows you to maintain the style, create an interesting design.
For the construction of such hotels, the government allocated subsidies in the amount of 4 billion rubles. They will appear throughout the country - from the Caucasus to Baikal. I hope that the award will draw the attention of leading designers and architects to this area,” she said.
According to Dashi Namdakov, "reinforced concrete boxes should be replaced by more natural materials."
“The revival of this material, wood, but in new, modern forms, is a great event, because it brings us all closer to a modern, environmentally friendly approach to nature, and to our cultural origins and traditions,” Rostourism quotes the artist.
