Thai primates starve amid coronavirus outbreak

The outbreak of coronavirus has hit not only the tourism industry, but also the Thai monkeys, accustomed to living on alms from numerous foreign tourists. Thailand's livestock defenders are sounding the alarm - in the Songkhla province primates suffer from food shortages and are in distress.

This part of Thailand is usually actively visited by travelers from Malaysia and Singapore, who are Malaysian and Singaporean tourists who massively cancel their trips. Starving “smaller brothers” began to feed local residents - fruit merchants treat them with watermelons and tomatoes, Thai tourists, who still visit the resort region, give them corn grains, but the amount of food has fallen sharply. In the end, Songkhla municipal authorities decided to take the monkeys on balance as they are one of the province’s most popular tourist attractions.
