For the ninth year the campaign has been gathering the country's residents to participate in subbotniks.
This year, almost 22,000 Water of Russia events took place across the country, in which more than 1.3 million volunteers took part. At the same time, there are more of them every year. Volunteers cleared more than 31 thousand kilometers of the coastline of water bodies, and the volume of garbage collected amounted to 148.9 thousand cubic meters.
The Top 10 ranking of Russian regions this season includes: Tatarstan, Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Ingushetia, Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Bashkortostan, Kaluga Region, Komi Republic, Chelyabinsk Region, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Krasnoyarsk Territory
Khabarovsk Territory, Buryatia and Amur Region made the "Breakthrough of the Year" and rose in the ranking by 30 or more points.
Cleanings within the framework of the “Water of Russia” campaign often take place in unusual formats. Among them are plogging races, eco-alloys in kayaks, climbing trips in order to clean the banks of high mountain springs. Ecological workshops, open lessons and sports competitions are regularly held at the events.
