The flowering of the first herbaceous plants began in the natural areas of the capital, Mospriroda reported on its website.

“For example, you can admire the blooming of the spring chistyak in the Bitsevsky Forest natural and historical park, snowdrops are pleasing to the eye in the Izmailovo natural and historical park, coltsfoot blossomed with little suns in the Biryulevsky arboretum, the Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo natural and historical parks "," Izmailovo ", - the message says.

As for the snowdrop, only one of its species grows in Moscow.

As noted in Mospriroda, soon, on April 19, Snowdrop Day will be celebrated.

The Latin name for the snowdrop is Galanthus (Galanthus), meaning milky flower. And this name is not accidental. The flowers of this plant are always white. And snowdrop petals closed at night resemble a large drop of milk. Snowdrops, or Galanthus, there are about 20 species. In Moscow, only the snow-white snowdrop grows in its natural environment. There are also various varietal forms planted by Muscovites,” the environmental institution said.

According to experts, despite the fact that snowdrops look very fragile and delicate plants, they are able to withstand frost down to -10 ° C.

“The power of the snowdrop draws from the nutrients contained in the bulb. At low temperatures, the flower freezes, but does not die. After the onset of heat, the flower thaws and continues to delight everyone with its beauty,” the message says.

As experts emphasize, all snowdrops, like other early-flowering herbaceous plants, need special protection.

If they are not taken care of, they can easily disappear from the face of the Earth, because they simply do not have time to restore their numbers.

“Mospriroda specialists remind you not to collect plants and disturb their habitats. Arriving at the natural territory of Moscow, admire the early flowering plants, capturing their beauty in your soul or with the help of a camera lens. In natural areas, the places of growth of early flowering plants should be bypassed along organized paths.
