All-Russian competition in snowkiting and winter windsurfing "Big Cup of Siberia" will be held in Novosibirsk from 4 to 6 December.
The best athletes in the country will perform the complex tricks that are typical for these types of sailing.
“Competitions are held every year. More than 150 Russian athletes come to the Novosibirsk reservoir to compete for the title of the best national athlete and to solemnly open the new winter season, ”the national travel portal Russia.travel reports.
The organizers of the competition also prepared entertainment for the audience. This is a photo session with a husky, and master classes that will allow you to try yourself in winter sailing sports, as well as competitions from partners with valuable prizes.
Winter windsurfing flourished in the early 1970s, and around the same time it appeared in Russia. This sport is practiced on ice or on the snow, while, like in summer, it is possible to ride on a kind of "waves" - snowy hillocks and low mountains. In addition, in winter windsurfing, athletes reach higher speeds than in summer.
As for snowkiting, it is called a primordially alpine sport, since it appeared in the 70s of the last century in the Alps, thanks to a German paraglider
Dieter Strazilla. This athlete is called the inventor of snowkiting, as he was the first to use slightly modified parachutes in relation to his own control system on the slopes.
