“Signal is an electronic festival and the main summer retreat of thousands of communities motivated by a common idea: to go beyond the influence of the metropolis, to be “beyond the horizon” in an ideal world created in the name of music, art and love,” organizers say on the festival website.
The event takes place in Nikola-Lenivets, on the territory of the national park "Ugra", included by UNESCO in the reserve of the Earth's biosphere. Most Signal facilities, including the main stage, are located near the famous Acoustic Glade - in a natural landscape bowl at the junction of two natural zones.
The festival site will have seven stages, where about 180 performances by musicians are expected, art objects, campsites, food courts, Versailles Landscape Park, parking lots and info pavilions.
One of the scenes will be decorated in the aesthetics of the hippie era.
“In the birch grove on the territory of the landscape park of Versailles, “flower children” will find a wooden pavilion equipped especially for them with a quadraphonic sound and a warm, perfectly articulated bass,” is how the organizers describe it.
In addition, a creative educational laboratory based on the Performance Camp in Nikola-Lenivets will operate from 13 to 21 August. Its participants will explore the history of dance music and prepare a Panhorama performance.
“The camp program includes: meditation, yoga, connection with oneself, immersion in nature, bodily practices, master classes in dance and choreography, work on creating a total work of art with the team of the director and production team,” the festival website reports.
A large-scale performance procession involving more than 100 artists will be presented on August 20 as part of the main Signal program. This manifestation will be accompanied by a light show with high power lasers and mirror objects.
The educational program of the festival includes cultural events, meetings with professionals from the creative industries, lectures, workshops, excursions, film screenings. Main directions: music, architecture, design, media art.
