The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that scientists from specially protected natural areas are monitoring the life cycle of birds, including migratory birds.
In the Astrakhan Reserve, since mid-May, ornithologists have observed a massive migration of honey beetles, gray flycatchers, forest pipits, willow warblers and chiffchaff. Scientists regularly encountered mute swans, yellow herons, eagle chicks and barnacle terns looking for nest sites.
In the reserve "Kologrivsky Les" in the Kostroma region, for several months, observations were made of black grouse on the current, and in the territory of the reserve "Lebyazhy Islands" in the Crimea, scientists are monitoring the nesting of the grouse, a bird listed in the Red Books of Russia and Crimea. On the Lebyazhy Islands, the Caspian Sea lions form dense colonies of 200-700 nests on beaches devoid of vegetation. Ringing of chicks made it possible to find out the migration routes and wintering places of this species.
In the Komandorskie Islands National Park in the Kamchatka Territory, the focus is on the chicks of the Lapland plantain, which breeds chicks in June. This bird breeds in almost any part of the islands, except for the rocky coast. There, her relatives prefer to incubate their eggs - the American mountain finch, snow bunting and wren.
In the Pasvik nature reserve in the Murmansk region, work is underway to study bird migrations, their capture and banding.
The official portal "Wild Nature of Russia" reported that specialists from the Directorate of Biological Resources, Specially Protected Natural Areas and Natural Parks of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), together with the Nizhnekolymsky Environmental Inspectorate with the support of Russian business, conducted an expedition in the Kolymsky Bay
